Doug Tarry, Doug Tarry Homes:
I believe people should step into mentorship roles to help guide the next generation of our industry — the next generation of leaders. It doesn’t matter what your skillset is; it’s about putting in the effort to help others understand how they fit and how they can grow within the industry.
Bettina Hoar, OHBA Futures Faster:
The great thing about our program is that the only difference between a mentor and a mentee is years of experience. Anyone who has been in a career can mentor someone else because you’ve experienced the highs, the lows, the questions, and the answers. Sharing that knowledge actually helps you grow as well.
Christina Giannone, Port Credit West Village Partners & OHBA Chair:
It’s important to step into mentorship regardless of your background. You introduce new avenues to your mentee, and in turn, they challenge you to think differently. Mentorship is a two-way street — you teach, learn, and expand your understanding of the industry from a fresh perspective.
Bettina Hoar, OHBA Futures Faster:
Everyone needs a mentor, and ideally several throughout their career. A mentor can show you the future from their perspective, helping you step outside your own mindset and become encouraged and excited about moving forward.
Doug Tarry, Doug Tarry Homes:
Mentorship plays a critical role in growing a strong community. By sharing values and guiding others, we strengthen the industry and contribute to a more robust society. Mentorship doesn’t just develop individuals — it shapes the future of our sector.
